Katwise: The Art of Joy!

For nearly two decades, Kat O’Sullivan, known to the world as Katwise, has been spinning color and chaos into wearable joy.

Her signature patchwork coats, hoodies, and arm warmers are made entirely from reclaimed sweaters — each piece a one-of-a-kind explosion of texture and hue.

Kat’s work blurs the line between sustainability and spectacle. What begins as thrifted wool becomes something mythic: swirling hems, rainbow seams, a sense that her garments were stitched by some benevolent forest spirit with a sewing machine. She doesn’t just sell her creations — she teaches others how to make their own, offering tutorials and patterns that have helped thousands embrace upcycling as art.

Her home in the Hudson Valley, affectionately called Calico, mirrors her work — a rainbow-painted farmhouse known as The House That Sweaters Built. It’s a physical embodiment of her philosophy: creativity as lifestyle, generosity as design.

Costume Network’s own Anney Fresh Ozar first crossed paths with Kat years ago when Kat’s legendary bus appeared in Rob Thomas’s “Someday” music video — a fitting cameo for an artist who lives her own kind of rock-and-roll fairytale.

Katwise isn’t just a brand; she’s a world — one stitched together from color, craft, and joy!
